Hehe I understand this perfectly lol. I love meeting other girl gamers and chatting haha. Girl gamers rule!
I started my new job 3 months ago and I still keep a WoW wallpaper, hoping someone will come by one day and say “hi, I play too”…
(My warrior class t-shirt went unnoticed too. I’ve kinda given up hope…)
My best friend keeps a Horde emblem up on his desktop at his new job and has met a couple people there that play.
lol awsome comic 😛
Anyone else ever feel like it’s a secret addiction? I never want to answer the, “So what did you do this weekend?” question with, “Oh, we got down another hard mode in 10 man and put it a few solid attempts on the LK in 25.”
Are you kidding? Jeeze, I take every chance to tell people that.
It’s fun how startled and confused they look.
That term has been going around my guild lately…
Heh, mine too. 😀
Haha yeah I sometimes where WoW tshirts to uni thinking that someone will talk to me about it. So far, nothing. I dont think people are very open to talking about it EVEN though I KNOW there are heaps of them out there!! Come out, come out, wherever you are.
Tygrezz: I’d just say “I played WoW”, because the details would sound like mumbo-jumbo to anyone who doesn’t know the game.
im doing a subject at uni on gaming, and we had a lecture on online gaming , when the lecturer asked who all played wow i was the only one who raised my hand up!! imagine!! i dont know why everyone is so reserved about revealing the fact that they play WoW !
Funny that, I was playing ‘I Play W.o.W’ from Jace Hall in the reading hall and gotten looks from some students who plays WoW. =)
Hehe…….. Tygrezz’s comment reminds me of Mary’s 1st npccomic : http://www.npccomic.com/2009/02/19/lies/ . I have a RL friend (highschool age) who will not talk about his WoW addiction with any nonplaying friends – he thinks it will hurt his cool image 😛 I sure am glad I’m way past that stage of my life! But I do wonder: are you automatically uncool if you love a video game?
heh… I was thinking of linking to this comic too. You beat me to it
I don’t see how playing a video game for a couple of hours a day is any worse than facebook. People do that crap for hours on end.
I’m a 44-year-old married mom and I’m always telling people I play WoW. I once wore my hunter t-shirt to a music festival (Langerado in FL), and some fellow hippies stopped me to talk about WoW. Their whole group played! Every time we’d see each other that weekend, we’d yell out “For the Horde!” and geek out.
I’ve been playing since beta, the husband has been playing for three years, and none of our neighbors understand. Oh well, they’re just not cool.
I have a friend who’s very open about his PC gaming and tells others they’re also geeks since they play on Xbox, PS3, etc. Actually more so since PC does other things and those consoles only play video games. Who’s more of a geek? People then shut up.
Wow, well, our office is very open about gaming. We have several WoW players on our staff who get together on raids and such. There are also gamers of other sorts around too.
We have a very geeky office…its GREAT!
The spouse and I both play (he’s Alliance, I’m Horde) and one night we went out to dinner at Benihana (where they seat you at a big table with several other people). Imagine my delight when I heard the other group talking about their upcoming raid! We spent the next few minutes comparing notes on progression, swapping server names, etc. It was great!
Ooh, so jealous! I’m a nurse, and all my coworkers think I’m super weird/scary for collecting knives/swods/other pointy instruments and playing GW and WoW. *sigh* They all are a lot older than me.
My friends all think I’m crazy too…lol. Good thing my bestie from highschool is super into WoW, and we quest together sometimes when she’s not raiding. My b/f and I play GW together.
It’s awesome being a geek/nerd. I wouldn’t want it any other way. >^.^<
