I have to admit that as someone who’s just watched from home and never gone, I can certainly see why it isn’t necessary to have a BlizzCon every year. I’m a little bored during the years they don’t announce a WoW expansion. But I understand that attendees love to go for the community, and I can see why many must be disappointed.

So what do you think? Are you jumping in? Wait and see? Sworn off of MMO’s?

I’m a wait-and-see gal myself. It just looks too much like WoW, and I don’t have any room in my life for another MMORPG that seems so similar. I’m not pre-ordering, but I’m interested, and I might have a hard time resisting trying it if everyone around me is and having fun.

I’m very glad to have work, but man I’ve been busy lately. The kind of busy where I just work and make comics and sleep and work and make comics and….Hey! When do I get to play games??? Oh yeah, I played Battleheart a little on the subway last week. I had a few days off a couple weeks ago…why didn’t I use it make all the comics ever and play all the games in the world???

Ah well. Maybe soon. I still haven’t even scratched the surface of Portal 2, as short as it is. I briefly logged on to the glorious Final Score Minecraft server a couple times and am eager to go back and explore all the crazy public works people have built there. And I tried Order and Chaos, the WoW clone MMO for iOS (supposedly out soon for Android?) for about an hour. I’m less eager to go back to that one and do another grindy wolf-ear collection quest, but I feel I haven’t given it much of a chance yet. Oh yeah, and WoW! I haven’t been to a guild run in weeks. I logged on for Childrens’ Quest and begrudgingly got the pets because I felt like my former self would furious at my present self if I did not. Since my time is precious I’ve become much less patient of grindy game activities and more interested in getting to the heart of the game. Hey….maybe that’s why they call it BattleHEART.

But enough about me. What about you?! Both batches of Blizzcon tickets went on sale and it looks like they’re sold out of course. I’m not going because I can’t personally justify the expense and time to go to the opposite coast for a convention for one company, but it sounds fun! If I lived in California I’d probably try to go. I always buy the digital version and watch it. So…are you going? I’m using a new poll thing, in a effort to speed the site load time. It even lets you input your own answer! So that way you don’t have to comment wondering why I didn’t include a really obvious answer choice, because you can write it in, woohoo!

*EDIT* Poll is closed! Look like most people are playing it on their computer if they’re playing it all, but there’s still a significant PS3 and Xbox contigent. I haven’t had a chance to buy it and play it yet myself. I hope soon though.*

The vast majority of you are not trying DCUO. Not surprising, given the time and money investment required for a new MMO. And the fact that it isn’t the hotly anticipated Guild Wars 2 or Star Wars: The Old Republic. Oh, and have you heard? A little thing called Cataclysm might be keeping people busy lately.

The MMOing in public crowd just barely eeked out the non-public crowd. Looks like the number one location of choice is on school grounds. What surprised me is that bar/cafe/restaurant trailed not too far behind! I never see that here. Maybe NYC cafes are too packed for someone to comfortably set up for 4 hours on a game and not get glared at? Or maybe I’m just not going to the right ones.

Not many people let us know where there mystery “Not listed here” locations are. I’m still wondering….

Recap! You guys like Azumanga Daioh more than Yotsuba. But like one commenter suggested, I’m thinking that’s because Azumanga is so much more popular. Personally, I’m a Yotsuba girl myself. BUT! I’ve only seen the Azumanga series and haven’t read it all.

Ok, let’s take out the 14% of voters who don’t play WoW. That leaves us with 976 votes, and the percents are recast:

Collector’s Edition:  33%
Physical retail Standard Edition: 25%
Digital: 24%
CE, but just want the pet really: 9%
Undecided: 8%

(There were some unrounded decimals in there, adding up to a missing 1%)

Now let’s take out the undecided, for a total of 894 votes, and combine the two CE’s and the two SE’s together:

Collector’s Edition: 414 votes, 46%
Standard Edition: 480, 54%

The Standard Editions win! Congratulations. Spend the $40 you save on something sensible, like Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. Don’t forget to check out the comments on the original poll post. A couple people are actually buying the digital version so they can have it ASAP, then upgrading to the CE!!

The PST part means us East Coasters can’t play until 3am.

But it’s still very tempting to not have to wait for a package or go to a midnight release.

John and I both preordered the Collector’s Edition from Amazon. I’m a little nervous about it, as it STILL says it won’t deliver until a week AFTER Dec 7. *grump* Hopefully that’ll get sorted out. But I sure don’t want to be punished by having to wait a few days after spending $80. And we sure don’t need two art books sitting around. But we both definitely want the Lil’ Deathy pet!

So what are you guys doing?

Since the kids these days practically grew up on computers and the internet, I have to wonder…won’t retirement homes become more tech- and gaming-friendly? Sure, some of them are already sporting Nintendo Wii’s. But I’m talking Xboxes, computers, Playstation 9′s, etc. Undoubtedly all that costs a lot, but what if seniors bring their own? I can’t imagine moving anywhere without at least a laptop.
