Just to clarify, I never lowered my standards. I was trying a new style, but I didn’t pull it off well and it came off as just looking messy. I think it’d be possible to make it work, and it worked in a couple strips in my opinion. But on the whole I think the comic is better off if I stick to coloring inside the lines. :)
