unrelated: I can’t get that song out of my head since I saw that movie with Vanilla Ice and Adam Sadler.
somewhat related: Why are they taking Lisa’s pressure?
You know… I feel the same way. Those things hurt. You are already asked to be in a rather uncomfortable position… then told to relax. It’s like ‘Please pick one already!’
The manual ones are better. Somehow they don’t hurt like the automatic ones do. However, trying to get the doctor/nurse to use one instead of the automatic is rarely successful. :/
Panel 1: Lisa is at a doctor's office. A nurse is putting a blood pressure monitor on her.
Nurse: Let's just get your blood pressure...
Panel 2: Close up of the blood pressure band on her arm. It squeezes.
Panel 3: POP! The panel border is bubbly.
Panel 4: Lisa's arm pops off! The panel border is bubbly.
Panel 5: Back to normal panel border. Lisa's daydream pops. She's still hooked up to the machine.
Panel 6: Nurse: Oh oops, looks like this machine is faulty. Let's just -
Lisa: I KNEW IT!
Panel 7: Lisa dashes off.
Nurse: 180 over 90. (taking notes)

If that happens, just put it in a binder.
Aww, it’s just a case of “White Coat Syndrome”.
That’s when your blood pressure goes up at the site of a doctor.
They really really hurt, and cos they stress you, your pressure goes up!
You must have a fear of hospital equipment.
I’m a CNA an sometimes we just check each other’s BP just for fun.
I usually have a 150/85.

I must agree completely how you feel about them. Quite painful.
Painful?? Had one of those on my arm off and on for 15 days and while uncomfortable yes but not painful. Maybe my nurses were nice to me?
