I actually found walking around as Mario to be rather entertaining the last time I went to my local con (couple years ago).
Just as expected.

Walking around as Jayne from Firefly in Seattle last year was simply amazing. At 6’4″ I’m a pretty imposing person, add to that combat boots, an official looking shirt (the green Blue Sun one) tucked in and a combat belt with magazine pouches on it and I looked fairly threatening. Throw in the orange Jayne-hat and you had the perfect case for the strangest looks. The best looks were on Easter Sunday from the families in their best suits
