The book readers are safe because they automatically have something to beat the muggers with…

The O.E.D. – giving a whole new definition to self defense.

What, there are now run-by thefts on New York subways? There wasn’t an announcement when we were saying, “Oooh, Discman! I want one!” Muggers are really lowering their standards.

To be honest I like seeing people immersed in their devices because they are more prone to mumbles, stumbles and physical comedy in general ;)

Anyone not staring into their iWhatzit is probably getting ready to steal yours!

My favorite subway experience: I was sitting minding my own business, holding onto all my school stuff (and yes, I admit it, listening to my iPod), when I noticed this guy staring kind of….. Fixatedly at me. He would stare, and then scribble something in the notebook he was holding. At first I thought he creepy, but when he got off at his stop I got a glance at his book and saw a rough sketch on the page….. Of me!! It gave me this funny, warm feeling. :3 I inspired somebody.

Is that a cat logo in place of an iconic fruit?

You know I honestly don’t remember hearing that one on the train.

Is this in New York? I’m headed there this weekend for the Brooklyn Comics Show. I hope I hear this on the Subway.

Yep! On the newer trains, the ones with the signs telling you what the next stop is. It’s a recording of a man’s voice, the same guy who tells you to “Stand clear of the closing doors please.”
