Star Wars: The Old Republic Out Dec 20. Will You Be Playing?

Bioware recently announced a launch date for Star Wars: The Old Republic, its highly anticipated MMO. Dec 20 for North America, Dec 22 for Europe. Looks like launch dates elsewhere remain in the dark.
So what do you think? Are you jumping in? Wait and see? Sworn off of MMO’s?
I’m a wait-and-see gal myself. It just looks too much like WoW, and I don’t have any room in my life for another MMORPG that seems so similar. I’m not pre-ordering, but I’m interested, and I might have a hard time resisting trying it if everyone around me is and having fun.

Coming out 5 days before Christmas is not winning it any points to this one-income parent of 2.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed playing a Jedi in SW: The Force Unleashed (I + II), and would probably enjoy SW:TOR. However, it *does* seem a lot like WoW, and I’m not interested in acquiring another subscription MMO. I’m holding out instead for Guild Wars 2, which seems like they’re actually trying to do everything as differently from WoW as possible, and it looks REALLY cool.
Yeah, I’m going for GW2 also. I really don’t think SWTOR is going to do as well as the hype hopes it will. In many ways, it’s too close to WoW and isn’t trying to do terribly much different. Their ideals seem more in line with “cash in” not “innovation”. Though Wildstar looks to be interesting also.
But I don’t like the idea of bunny girls, any more than badly rendered wolf girls. I’ll play my hell-kitty instead thank you.
Yay for GW2! I can’t wait for that. I am so looking forward its streamlined, simplified, revolutionary approach to a genre that’s gone stale.
I’m in … but (don’t flame me) I’ve never played WoW. I was a EQ’er and played SWG. As a Star Wars geek, I’m totally excited about this game.
I don’t understand what do you mind by “looks too much like WoW”? It is completely different world, different engine, different levelling mechanism.
no time for this, I’m on Diablo beta and so I know my next “non sleep” game will be Diablo 3 (and my new born daughter will help me to stay up at nights too to play
).
I’m all in. I’ve played a majority of the MMO’s out there and WoW held me the longest (well … EQ did too but that was more of a co-dependent relationship – I don’t like to talk about it.)
It doesn’t look revolutionary but is definitely evolutionary (ability to share quests across zones/maps, interactive cut-scenes, etc). I just wish they (that’s any other MMO) would steal CoH’s sidekick system. That way casual gamers like me can group with our more hardcore friends without having to worry about keeping a toon in the same level range.
Dan, just for the record, Guild Wars 2 has that sidekick system. Go check it out!

And just keep in mind, Guild Wars 2 will have no subscription fee!
It’s the proven formula of Star Wars & Bioware. I can see no way this could possibly go wrong.
I was.. however, the vague possibility of eventually being allowed to play when everyone else is max-level leaves me just another apathetic Red-Zoner.
As someone who has played in Beta…I wouldn’t say it looks too much like WoW at all. It has a very different feel to it in my mind. And I think it’s pretty awesome so far.
That being said…my husband and I have been debating, and we’re both leaning towards not preordering. I much prefer to give MMOs a bit of time. Besides – we’re currently in the “on” phrase of our on again off again relationship with WoW.
