↓ TranscriptPanel 1: Lisa is on the floor, playing NES. Her hair is permed and she's wearing a purple headband, purple legwarmers, and pink hoop earrings. There's a Cyndi Lauper poster on the wall behind her.
Mike: What are you doing?
Lisa: Trying to get into the pre-internet cultural mindset.
Panel 2:
Mike: The eighties?
Lisa: When we were kids, before the internet got huge, people played NES and listened to Rick Springfield. They seemed happy enough. Maybe I can learn from them.
Panel 3: Mike stares at Lisa.
Panel 4:
Mike: You look like a Brooklyn hipster in those legwarmers.
Chloe snaps a polaroid picture of Lisa.
Lisa: (sticking her tongue out) At least you can't post a picture on Facebook.
I don’t believe you were old enough to remember the 80s.
I was born in 1979.
but you can post a picture on real world walls
Love the hair style
Even though I played Sega instead of Nintendo, I like to believe I was happy back then
Also love Lisa’s hair but not the ribbon for some reason
Golden era of Saturday morning shows, and swinging down the creek on vines.. I know I was a happy 8 year old… and no, that doesn’t mean I’m old now
Perfect! Original Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy 1, Dragon Warrior… those were the days.
The polaroid at the end was a nice touch.
AND YES WE WERE HAPPY DAMMIT
Not that I’m saying I could go back.
The Cyndi Lauper poster makes it.
She’s So Unusual!
LOVE today’s comic! The hair, the poster, the NES, the polaroid…. lol
I know I had a very happy childhood, growing up in the 80s (I was born in ’81). I just wish I had kept all my toys, I gave almost everything except my legos and video games to my best friend’s younger sister. Oh well!
I love this week’s cupcake picture.
I was happy in the ’80s. I never had an NES though. I had a CoCo2 with MS Cassette Basic.
ah the 80′s …. I wouldn’t go back….though I do miss the great cartoons
Muppet Babies was my favorite.
what happened to the mutant hamster and window squirrel?
I have no doubt they’re still wreaking havoc in their own way.
The 80′s…
D&D, Atari….high school…
Yikes, I’d rather not go back to those times, thank you.
And yes, I AM old.
Maybe I could cope if I had boulder dash again.
Hehehehehe!
I’m diggin’ those leg warmers though. A-dorable.
Oh, and Rick Springfield? On behalf of Australia, we apologise for exporting him.
Just a thought here. What happened to PS2, PS1, N64, Gamecube, Xbox, all those wonderful consoles that DIDN’T require Internet?? I know it’s a far cry less funny than having Lisa regress to a mid-80′s POV, but come on. Lack of Internet shouldn’t cause this much devastation.
