There is actually a really adorable little girl living above us, and she used to be a little loud. I couldn’t believe how much energy was contained in this tiny angel. She’s not that loud now – or maybe we’re just used to it and we don’t notice so much.

I refuse to own any children – got spayed years ago. Can’t say I even find any of them cute.
I had a neighbor who used to whack his ceiling with a push broom when kids would run around above him.
Lil’ children are just adorable <3 As long as they don't fake-cry (just screaming, but not really crying). I may think of adopting one (me=asexuel
) later in the future, would be awesome
The neighbors upstairs have two toddlers. They aren’t cute. They throw stuff off the balconey and scream & cry. and stomp. :\
Wow, I guess more people have this problem then I realized. I have moved multiple times to get away from this same exact problem.
This is much preferable to what I had to listen to when I lived in my last apartment. It did involve lots of thumping noises though.
I don’t have kids of my own, I just rent them from friends and relatives on occasion.
Who needs kids… I have Asian ball-jointed dolls! XD I’m honestly not sure which are cheaper, though…
bows his head. Do you know how hard it is to get a 2 to 5 year old to not stomp run play or make any noice what so ever. I had a neighbor eventuly come up and try to yell at me about my child. only to find out I was the only one in the apartment and all I was doing is walking… I do sypathize but it is a child and there going to run around. Now we did learn that hay with a child we need first floor or a one floor place, but if not availble then make due. It is all part of living in an apartment community.
Yeah, it really depends on the situation, the parents, the kids, and the apartment construction. Can’t really flat out blame all kids or all parents. I have friends who moved out of their place because they were woken up every day at 5am by kids upstairs riding scooters and bouncing balls.
On the other hand, the little girl above us isn’t much of a disturbance. And I appreciate that they laid down carpet, which really dampens the sound. I have no reason to complain to them.
This is not a problem with kids, but an inherent function of apartment living.
Also why I bought a house…
A friend of mine had much of the same situation but the parent treatem them like they were a kidnapper creep, cause apparently its ok for a girl to say a kid is cute but if a guy does it He’s a molester. This world can be really weird sometimes.
Kids? Oh God! Run awwwwwaaaayyyy! Faster before they catch up!
I live on the bottom floor of a fourplex (two apartments upstairs, two downstairs). I picked the downstairs because of my kids – I didn’t want to bother anyone. The thing is, my building has a crawlspace, so the floor is pretty much one big drum. Thankfully, my kids are usually out cold around 8 PM but the people who live in the other downstairs apartment are nightowls. I’ve had the joy of listening to their 3 kids (aka – the Thundering Herd of Elephants) run up and down and up and down their long hallway until 10, 11, sometimes midnight. Oy…
I kind of resent Jennifer’s comment. kids are awesome
Nah, everyone’s different. I think her point was that *she* isn’t a kid person. And that’s cool. Just like those of us who are, are.
Different strokes
Well, instead of kids,I had to listen to……scream (!?)
It stopped 2 years ago, but it was weird.
Another reason I asked for a top floor!
apartment living does have its drawbacks.
I agree with Missyjean, I always get a top floor apartment if I’m stuck in multi-level living.
That being said, I immediately become very cautious of who I invite over… because I try to not make life unbearable for my downstairs neighbors. And as for kids… well, perhaps someday I’ll adopt, but it’s not in the cards right now.
That’s well… cute? Not really. I hate children… so snotty and filthy and people-ish… I hate people!
I rented a basement apartment years ago from a lady with 2 young kids. Everyday without fail, one of the kids would knock over a chair and start crying around the same time. I couldn’t understand why until one day I was paying the rent and saw that the kid was doing it on purpose to get attention from his mother during the his baby sister’s feeding time. I made a vow that any kids that I had would never act like that.
Well to all the people here that hate kids, good thing your parents didn’t hate kids.
