Well, I was almost resolved to save $40 and go digital. But then a kind twitter follower (Thanks @chrisman!) let me know that his friend was just able to get release date delivery. It still wasn’t available for me yesterday, so I was skeptical. I had even gotten another reply from Amazon: “This product is not available for release date delivery.”

But lo and behold, today I clicked on “Change shipping speed” and the option was there! Estimated Delivery: Dec 7. Goodbye, extra $40. I hardly knew thee.

I’ve heard of that problem. If the rumors I hear are true, it means Amazon overbooked the CE preorders and they won’t have that many to send out for release day delivery.

You may have to bite the bullet and get SE if you want to play on release day (I had no trouble updating that to release day delivery once Blizz anounced the date).

Of course if things turn out a disaster, maybe waiting a few days might help.

John and I are in the same boat. It’s very very frustrating. Amazon told me that they don’t have release date shipping for it, but that it might become available as the release draws nearer.
I might try calling Blizzard to ask them if they’re going to give Amazon release date delivery or not.
Bah!
The Gamestops around me are out of preorders, but Bestbuy might have them. I’m not up for going to a 7 hour midnight release event. I just want the next day without hassle.

ARGH. I’m one of quite a few people who ended up pre-ordering the Collector’s edition thru Amazon and are not able to upgrade the shipping speed to release date. I read a lot of frustrated feeback on the forum. I’m thinking I might cancel cuz I’d rather be able to play right away versus have a bunch of extra stuff that I look at once.

I ended up quitting WoW and cancelling my Cataclysm order. But the order I placed originally was for the SE. I just didn’t see the extras as worth it.

I’ve actually decided against buying the digi version and later upgrading to my CE. My fiance and I got our sleep schedules all figured out so it wouldn’t make any sense now, haha. I’ll be going to bed before the digital version available and waking up around the time the UPS man gets here with my CE version. SO excited!
