people always mistake me for mid tweens, (im 30)

Same here – only now I’m 31. Helps that I’m in a grad school program, blending in with the young whippersnappers. It’s possible that I like this cartoon even more now!

when i was in my teens, all the adults told me i was so mature for my age – an ‘Old soul’ i believe… and was often mistaken for being in my 20′s.

now i’m in my 30′s, and everyone older than me keeps saying ‘oh, you’re not old, you’re still a baby… everyone my age keeps acting like a deer in headlights when the topic of ‘how old we are’ is broached… and everyone younger say’s a variation on the cartoon above – basically ‘WOW, well – i didn’t think you were THAT old! REALLy – you’re 32? I would’ve never have guessed that’.

in some ways it’s a bunch to the gut – in other ways, i could care less… truth be told, some days i FEEL old, other days are better…

See, I’m on the opposite side of the spectrum — people tend to judge me as older that I actually am. I inherited an early gray hair gene from my father’s side, and don’t dye my hair. I started going gray right about the time I hit puberty (isn’t that awesome?), so by now I have lots of silver showing through the brown, especially at the temples. I’m only 23, but most people guess I’m around 30, so I always get surprised looks and some “really? That’s all?”s when I tell people my real age. I don’t bother feeling complimented or slighted…I pretty much find it all funny at this point, and it is helpful when buying alcohol — I almost never get carded.

I’m going to pretend I didn’t read this comic. January I turn 30. I went to college late in life so all of my friends are 22-24. They have no concept what 30 is. They don’t know the panic I’m feeling right now. I think I may just turn 29 again.
