Panel 1: The cats are at the computer, playing WoW.
Bink: I can’t believe all these humans have such a silly urge to collect virtual in-game pets.
Chloe: People are even paying real money for them now!
Panel 2:
Bink (gesturing at himself): It’s as though their real pets aren’t enough for them!
Panel 3: We see Lisa, holding a package.
Lisa: Ooh ooh! My package from Hong Kong finally arrived!
Panel 4:
Chloe: What is it?
Lisa: A virtual pet projector belt! I can take my pets with me wherever I go!
Panel 5:
Bink: You can take ME wherever I go! And I DO stuff!
Lisa: You’re not collectable.
Chloe sniffs the package.
What can I say? I’m certifiable. I play a hunter on WoW, so I get to collect pets on two fronts. I play the Pokemon games. When I was a kid I had both Pokemon Pikachu and a Tomagotchi.
I don’t know. Maybe it’s a cat owner thing. I have two cats right now, named Spock and Bender, that are real nutjobs. There’s no controlling them. Bender, for example, has a thing for trying to jump onto my shoulder. Not a good thing when he weighs over 10lbs and has sharp, sharp kitty claws.
Virtual pets might be my way to pretend that I have well-behaved pets.
Did you know that the British spellings of words are the true spellings? While we have contorted the English language almost as much as the Forsaken did with Common becoming Gutterspeak, they have remained true to the grammatical wonders of “Ye Olde King’s English.”
(Ex: Collectable is correct, because it means that it is able to be collected. On the other hand, nothing is “ible” to be collected.)
I only care because I am an author, and a very precise one at that.
I have to confess, I just thought “collectable” was the way everyone spelled it. Then I did a search right before posting the comic to make sure and came up with all this “collectible” stuff, and learned that’s the most common spelling in the US. Doesn’t make much sense to me either.
I felt more comfortable relying on the Oxford English Dictionary!
But I don’t think I’ll be spelling “color” with a “u” anytime soon.
There’s no such thing as “correct” language. Language is developed by the general agreement of a society. If the society changes the language, it is no more correct or incorrect than it was before.
Pets that throw snowballs = Awesome!
Pets that freeze critters whilst you’re waiting around like Lil K.T. = Collectable!
p.s. When I went to type collectable in here, it came up with a little red squiggly line underneath. I’m Australian, so I’m happy to stick with the English version (that’s usually what we do here – even coloUr!)
I have no clue what spelling I use for it, and Im an aussie as well. But I asked a few family members and they all pronounced and spelt it collec-table.
Ive used both color/colour, grey/gray and the like so many times.
I’m guilty of this. 128 in-game pets in WoW so far and waiting for 3 more.
>.>
128 – wow! I think I have about 76. Just enough to get the deer. I didn’t do Argent Tournament, so I’m missing all those pets.

Ah! Ill catch up to you someday malkil! Stalking me in-game and on comic sites!
*laughs* Didn’t even know that you read this comic. I should have asked during our discussion of RSS last night.
Poor cats….
I have a ton of in-game pets… but I don’t have any real pets, so it makes up for it, lol.
But…. he´s blue, talks, gold farms and play a level 80 Desth Knight!!!
Yeah, *I* think he’s pretty collectable.
oh boy… not a good idea making those cats angry…
on the positive note, binks arm isnt mutated anymore
I just love Chloe sniffing the box *G*
How come Chloe is always so darn CUTE?! :>
I like randomly using British spelling for things.
Oh look at Chloe sniffing the box! How cute is that!

That’s perfectly understandable behaviour…
I see what you did there.

What colour is your armour? Oh bloody hell… (Sorry to all the british, I couldn’t resist…
Bink isn’t collectable, he’s Limited Edition!
MARY! they are going to do something now that you said that!
Good luck on the midsummer iceling! Pets that throw snowballs ftw! (Especially when they throw at malkil….)

As always, Mary – loving your work.

Oh, and dixbri, I use firefox, and have the Australian dictionary added as the languages. Did the same thing for me.
Yeah I’m Australian and I say colour. Even now my computer is telling me to correct my spelling for it =P
I guess if I were a cat, or even a hominid, I would prefer not to be collectable. I would get jealous of the rest of the collection.
