Why do people feel the need to pretend that they don’t play wow when someone asks?
OK i don’t go around my workplace telling everyone how our attempts at LK went (f**king boss btw) but i don’t try to hide the fact that i play.,

this one made me sad :’(

Being a long time Table Top RPG player, meaning I played before gaming was “cool.” I understand, even within my family it is still hard for me to tell them I’m doing something game related. Some still view it as evil satanic, sacrifice babies, devil worship, type activity. Now that it is more main stream people seem better about it, but 20 years ago is a totally different story, especially in a village, yes, we were not even big enough to be classified as a town. I was even reading up on Wicca at the time. So I was an outcast even among the outcasts.

Awwwww so sad! Miscommunication wins again. Im sure they’ll be good friends soon!

  3. Jen

This is like watching a soap opera and yelling at the characters “Nooo, he really does love you! He’s just saying that because Evil Bad Guy threatened him!”. WTB mutual girl crush!

  4. Kazira

Aww this one really made me sad!! Why oh why !!!

  5. Mailia

    She lacks the gamer pride.

  6. Deirdre

If it were me, I’d take the risk. “Yeah, I’mma dork, I loves me some video games!”

But that’s just me, too old to care what people think anymore, I wear my geek badge with pride. A quick Riptide would fix everything.

Something I read a bit ago, that applies to that…

“Yeah, I’ve got a computer, that I use for games among other things. You went out and bought a PS3, that only plays games? Who is the bigger dork?”

      • MultipleMe

“Yeah, I’ve got a computer, that I use for games among other things. You went out and bought a PS3, that only plays games? Who is the bigger dork?”

Lol I love it!! So true!

I have to admit, this one was a little sad to make. Silly Kendra. Silly Lisa. Nooooooooooo!

    • Aiun

Hah! First thing I did upon finishing reading was scream, “NOOOOOOO!”

  8. Gak

I’ve had gay friends happily open that would not admit they were gamers.

    Gaming, the secret shame.

  9. Azarizotza

    SO CLOSE!

  10. Tamara

I’m open about my gaming and still have no girls to crush…There needs to be a “Meet Gamer Girls in Your Area” forum/website :P

    • Unknownloner

So I take it you haven’t been on one of those websites (usually fansites) with the “geek meeting service” though i havent seen them lately

My fiancée posted something on Facebook about how excited we are to finally be getting some new recruits for the guild. One of our friends responsed, “Godd-mnit, I thought you people were supposed to be too cool to nerd out this hard.”

    :(

    • maryvarn

Yeah it’s comments like that that really get me down sometimes. I have no problem with being poked fun of for “nerding out” but then people often get so negative with it!

  12. MarkofJin

I’m glad I work for a company that promotes openness to gamers. Sometimes the opposite is true where you want to keep it in the closet if you don’t love certain games.

    • Eirik

      Hmm… Infinity Ward?

  13. Renee (Iceflow)

Come on Kendra! Have some gamer pride!!! I don’t care who knows I play WoW. Either you accept me or you don’t :)

  14. Gary

I wonder how often this kind of thing happens because people don’t show their true selves to the world (not just in gaming respects)

  15. MarkofJin

I like her lips and the shoulder shrug on the third frame.

  16. Zan

theres nothing bad in playing wow, as long as you don put it first in your life, RL comes first always

  17. maryvarn

    @Renee: That’s a great attitude to have! :)
    @Gary: I’ve wondered that myself :)
@MarkofJin: Thanks! That was fun to draw.
@Zan: I think the problem is that too often people assume that if you play MMOs like WoW that you automatically put it before RL stuff.
