“Panel 1: Lisa stands in front of the broken laptop with her hands on her hips. A cupcake portrait hangs onthe wall behind her.
Lisa: Huh, I wonder where the cats are.
Panel 2: close up on the laptop.
Panel 3: Close up on Lisa furrowing her brow at the laptop.
Panel 4: Extreme close up of the laptop. We see the circuits animating.
Panel 5: Close up of Lisa, wide eyed.
Lisa: Gasp! Are they…?
Panel 6: Lisa walks away.
Lisa: Nah.”
I like how Lisa doesn’t question the laptop with the large hole in it. Like “What the hell? There’s a large hole in this laptop!”. Crazy cats must be breaking expensive stuff all the time =)
Most common “moving gif” webcomic use I’ve seen has been User Friendly’s Nag Strips. As long as moving gifs are rare and limited (this one is pretty good that way), they’re okay. They can be distracting from the rest of the story, though.
Thanks everyone. Glad people are liking the little animation. I’d love to do more as time permits, but I don’t think the strip is the place for any more than what’s in this one. As others have mentioned, it can really get distracting if you go over board with it. Even this one is a bit too much for me. It really draws my eye to that panel at the expense of reading the other ones first. But it’s a fun experiment!
She has blue, talking, bipedal cats that play video games, but getting transported into a Tron-like computer land is just rediculous. I guess you gotta draw the line somewhere…
Silly Lisa, not believing in computer magic…
nice .gif work mary. =)
and I would like to note before anyone else gets to it, cupcake!
ps: we do appreciate your sacrifice. *somber nod*
Congrats on taking the comic to a new level Mary!! Great job ^_^ Love the hard work <3
i had to look again to check if it really was blinking or it was just me being super tired <.<
nice strip… hehe couldnt agree more, poor lisa not believing in computer magic….
Hehe there should be a strip solely focussing on the cupcakes life story so far
Heh, like the cupcake art in the background.
Gasp! It moves! Nice .gif work! Maybe future strips can include animated kitty faces? Please?

You’ve heard it. The people demand more random moving sections of the comic in the future. I, for one, second this motion.
Yes Yes! More More! Animated Cupcakes ftw!!!!

The moving panel is a very nice touch; it works well for this strip.
To paraphrase another comic I read:
“What do you mean? Of course it’ll do that in the book!”
Thanks everyone. Glad people are liking the little animation.

Because that would just be silly right?
Ooo, animation. TEH SUSPENSE!! What shall happen to teh kittehz and teh tron avatar of spreistness?
WOAH! Did Lisa seriously just walk away from a broken laptop?!? Quick!! Someone check and see if she has a fever!
Is it broken? I think Chloe and Bink would tell you different…..

Ahhh….if she only knew….
You should totally add your comic to ComicHovel.com to get more readers. =]
epic panel. The return of the cupcake. And, if you arent gonna use that laptop…
How’d u do that the green things moving
Thats cool
