You’ve probably noticed from some of my youtube posts that I’m a bit of a Star Trek fan. I’d say Trekkie, but I’m not sure I know enough series trivia to honor myself with such a label. I haven’t seen all of the original series (that’s TOS to trekkies!), but I watched TNG fanatically when I was a teenager, and of course I’ve seen all the movies. This game takes place some 30 years after TNG, a time that appears to be more fraught with battles. I might have to finally get access to Windows for this. I at least want to try it, though I’m worried how this beloved series will be interpreted as a game. Supposedly coming out early next year. Anyone else here interested?

Been pumped for this game since I heard about it. No matter what, this is a game I will be trying. REVEIWERS BE d-mnED!
I am / have been freaking out about STO for years, since it’s been announced. I installed bootcamp on my Mac in order to play it, and if it’s any good, I will buy a PC if the Macbook doesn’t behave well enough for it. That’s how excited I am about this game. I love Star Trek.
FYI: although it is no longer the case, Trekkie used to be a derogatory term used by people to insult the “nerds” who liked Star Trek. The term, “Trekker,” was the moniker used by people who were fans of the show. Now it’s fine to use it, but on occasion you will still see an old-school Trekker who gets offended by the use of “Trekkie.”
I’m chomping at the bit for STO and plan to try it out for at least a few months. I am hoping the expected Xbox 360 version will ship concurrently so I don’t have to muck about with Windows. Still, I may end up with a Windows box anyway just to make 25-man raiding more viable.
