Smooth out some of the borders, add back in the missing details like eyes and mouths, and I think this would be pretty workable!

Instant Esurance Commercial. It looks better with the lines though, I think. You would probably need to either increase the size on the page(though the fullsize version when I click on it is a great size), or decrease the amount of stuff per panel to keep this style because of the lack of detail the black lines bring.

Definitely weird and cool though!
