I can imagine. I’m not vegetarian myself (although I don’t eat a lot of meat) but one of the guys in our guild is a vegetarian, and he gets teased a lot.
You’d think the fact that she was hunting crocodiles would be a give-away. Those aren’t exactly easy to kill.
Come to think of it, both cats and crocolisks drop chilled meat, and the only food that can be made from chilled meat exclusively is Northern Stew, which only restores health. If I remember correctly she *is* a rogue, but come on, Mary! Grilled Bonescale is a MUCH easier source of food.
One of my best friends is from India and im a large redneck guy. The other day we were sitting in a restaurant and he was eating a hamburger while I was having a salad, the guys at the table next to us were having fits until finally one of them walks up to us and asks Sanjay “Hey, aren’t you guys supposed to be all vegetarians or somethin?” To which he replied “Oh, not me im Muslim” you should have seen the guy back peddling hahahaha
Thanks for the comments!
@O-Digga: You’re right. Lisa raids way more than I do. I have cooking quests on the brain, and was indeed thinking that her week’s supply of meat was merely to satisfy the cooking quests, as Fallantaur said. But she really should have been killing Mammoths and fishing up musselback sculpin to keep her raid food in check. Or maybe she just relies on fish feasts from guildies. So selfish.
@Danarchist: hah! I can’t believe the nerve of those guys.
Hah! I’m a vegan WoW player, I’ve had exactly this conversation in a veg-friendly restaurant, and I like to think the wait staff was exactly that confused.
LOL i luv this comic just had to click the link from wow.com about mohavk and spent most of my work day reading all the other stripes. i am a megetarian btw. its on the rise becoming more popular. we eat chickin fish and turkey no red meat or disguisting pig that maranates in its own sweat. TRY IT OUT ^^
Hey, I was finally moved to reply to one of your great comics. I’m a vegetarian, and everyone i WoW with knows it. Whenever I put down a great feast, i always mention over vent how in Cataclysm there will be a Cenarion Tofu Feast. No-one believes me, but i guess that is just because it is untrue and incredibly unlikely.
Anyway, I just wanted to say this is a great comic, and its awesome to see important people within the WoW community (such as yourself) speaking about their vegan/vegetarianism. Makes the rest of us feel warm and fuzzy inside. ;P
@Hegar: Thanks!
@YeahStriker: Yep, I’m vegan. Quinoa (I think it’s pronounced ‘keen-wah’) is a grain, like rice or cous cous. It’s popular among vegetarians and vegans for its high protein content. Consuming quinoa is the fastest way for a vegan to earn xp and level up.
I’ve had quinoa once or twice, funny thing about that is that it was at a small little ice cream shop in a smallish town. I don’t recall ever seeing it in Lansing or East Lansing, MI when I was living there, nor in the Hampton Roads area in VA where I now work.
Oh, I see. I’d like to taste it someday. I’m not a vegan myself (in fact, I don’t have a good opinion about vegan diet, no offense intended), but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying grain and greens.
The NRA sends spies? /paranioa attack They wouldn’t break into my house would they? I made a tauren hunter but hated him cause he used a gun! THEY ARE COMING FOR ME!:( NRA member-ist
As far as I can recall, WoW doesn’t have ANY useful buff foods if you want to roleplay a vegetarian. They ought to have something. . .
Question to vegans and vegetarians: What are your thoughts on the recent research showing that plants may feel pain? Sure animals are not more worthy of sympathy because they have faces like us. Maybe eating anything at all is morally indefensible.
Uuuuh, buff foods are for hard heroics and raids. That’s not the place to roleplay. Anyone who sticks with roleplaying in a raid and refuses to eat from a fish fest because “I’m roleplaying a vegan, I can’t eat fish” deserves a /kick.
I don’t have any interest in role playing as a vegetarian. I just don’t see how it would make since in the world.
I’m extremely skeptical of any research that indicates that plants feel pain in the same way animals do. From Vegan Outreach:
For plants to feel physical pain, they must have some sort of organized tissue which, upon stimulation, would activate a structure in the plant that is conscious and could perceive the stimulation as painful. There are no structures within plants that are analogs to the pain receptors, neurons, and pain-perceiving portions of the brains of vertebrate animals. Animals, being mobile, benefit from their ability to sense pain; but plants simply have no biological or evolutionary need for the experience of pain. Even if, contrary to all evidence, plants did feel pain, it would still be preferable to be vegan. More plants are killed in non-vegan diets, as more plants must be harvested to feed animals.
That being said, this is just a comic, and not a place to debate vegetarianism. Eat what you want, and enjoy the comic.
one reason i prefer hunting cow-people on wow is the hope of a good hamburger drop… also plants don’t cry out when they fall… or try and get revenge after a 3 hour camping of their corps :3 i tried being a vegan but the hard-to-pronounce food is expensive… and i do like a good salad with ranch… or lemon juice… btw is Ranch good for a vegan salad… if so i could probably rise to respecting my fellow sentient cow-people :3
HAHA!!! I am a vegetarian too. The other day I was talking about UO (yeah, I still play UO. . . too much nostalgia to let go of) and said “Yeah I just keep some fishsteaks handy and eat them whenever I get fatigued, works just as well” when my friend told me I needed to carry more stamina pots. A non-gaming co-worker immediately started spreading the news that I eat fish and carry dead fish with me everywhere. ..

Ah, the joys of talking about life in the other world.
Have to love context uses as well.

Maybe she was talking about the cooking dailies and their vaccuum-like effect on chilled meat?

So, are you a vegan?
Oh, and best place to farm chilled meat is from gorillas in Sholazar.
BTW, what’s quinoa?
@Hegar: Thanks!

Oops, forgot to mention, I was a vegan for 5 yrs.

Somehow, I always feel guilty being one of the few meat eaters at Naropa University.

See, My ex tried to turn me vegan, I replied by stating that I would open up a Meat Salon. (Like on I am Arg.) Her face was absolutely priceless.
