I got a Kindle for my birthday, and love it. One unexpected perk is that I’m actually a little addicted to reading it, because of the progress bar at the bottom – it’s very similar to progress bars for achievements and XP in WoW!

I never thought about that… *chalks up another addiction*

I don’t know if this is a good thing. For those who travel or who have little space the Kindle seems like a good fit: no need to store those books, take as many books as you’d like where ever you go, and you don’t have to charge the battery too often.

I’d miss paper, however. It’s a physical feel, and you can visually see how many pages you have left by putting it between your fingers. And you can flip to the page you want fairly quickly if you want to reference something. And you can’t give your Kindle to someone else if they wanted to read a book in their own time. Maybe if the other person had a Kindle you could trade, but that isn’t the same as giving a book. I may be a technology hound, but I don’t always like the new technology.
